Traffic Safety Unit

Through community education and the enforcement of traffic laws the HPD Traffic Safety Unit aims to reduce the number of traffic crashes and related injuries ensuring public safety on Hillsboro roadways.

About Us:

The Traffic Safety Unit enforces traffic laws, investigates crashes, responds to traffic related matters and provides community education to neighborhood groups, schools and businesses. The team of Traffic officers specialize in drug recognition, accident reconstruction and child safety seat installation.  In conjunction with the City Engineering Department, the Unit also analyzes traffic crash data to develop strategies and enforcement techniques to help ensure public safety on roadways.

The Traffic Unit conducts a number of special enforcement techniques related to speed enforcement, pedestrian safety and seat belt use.  Additionally, the unit evaluates routine and selective traffic enforcement activities to better deploy resources and enhance public safety. The Traffic Safety Unit also participates in various events including parades and motorcade procession details.
