Patrol Division

ABOUT US:

     The Patrol Division currently has 72 officers and supervisors serving Hillsboro’s 91,000+ residents. The Patrol Division is divided into six teams working four ten-hour shifts which provides overlap coverage from the busiest time of the day, 7:30 PM to 1:00 AM. All members of Patrol share a common work day of Wednesday which is the designated in-service training day. In addition to the sworn patrol officers, four unarmed Police Service Specialists supplement the patrol force by responding to non-hazardous radio calls and investigating violations of the municipal code. During summer months, the Police Department hires Police Reserves and Cadets to act as Park Rangers who patrol all city parks and mass transit centers.

     In addition to traditional patrol duties, officers put an emphasis on problem solving and proactive efforts to address issues of crime, disorder, fear of crime, and neighborhood livability.
