Instructor Aid Program
Upon completion of the Water Safety Instructor Aid course, volunteer instructor aids will assist the instructor in the following areas:
- Taking attendance
- Gathering equipment
- Drills/Demonstrations
- Successful completion of the Water Safety Instructor Aid course at either the SHARC or at another facility is a pre-requisite of this volunteer opportunity.

Junior Lifeguard Program |
Upon completion of the Junior Lifeguard course, volunteers can assist the SHARC lifeguards with the following tasks:
- Water safety
- Assist on-duty lifeguards in maintaining a safe environment
- Checking life jackets in/out
- Surveillance
- Light maintenance
- Successful completion of the Guard Start Junior Lifeguard course at the SHARC or another facility is a prerequisite for this volunteer opportunity.

Special Events
Volunteers can assist with special events such as the Halloween Spooktacular and the Polar Bear Swim. |
SHARC volunteer opportunities are available seven days a week. Shifts are typically about 3 hours long. Volunteers under the age of 15 cannot work after 7:00 p.m. on school nights or after 9:00 p.m. on other nights.
