Arden Sheets

Meet the Duke of Daffodils, Arden Sheets. He has led the planting of more than 90,000 donated daffodils along US 26 between the Cornelius Pass Road and Brookwood exits over the past five years. As the leader of the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce Beautification Committee, he hasorganized the daffodil planting to help beautify entrances to Hillsboro, recruiting volunteers from youth groups, garden clubs and anyone willing to help. Most of the bulbs are ‘rescue’ bulbs collected from sites where bulbs needed thinning or were going to be removed; the rescue work involved many hours over the summer.
The daffodils are just one of his many volunteer accomplishments. As a member of the Tualatin Valley Garden Club, Arden has been a key player in the development and maintenance of the Lloyd Baron Rhododendron Garden at Rood Bridge Park and the planting and maintenance of the landscape beds in downtown Hillsboro. He’s mentored people of all ages on the value of volunteerism and rewards of community service, creating green thumbs along the way.
