Intel Involved!

It is not uncommon to witness a sea of people in blue t-shirts working together on improving Hillsboro's parks. Whether it is constructing pathways at a community garden, painting a park sign, or sprucing up landscape beds, Intel employees always strive to make a difference.

For many years Intel employees have volunteered with Hillsboro Parks & Recreation, and their involvement only heightened with the kickoff of the Intel Involved Matching Grant Program in 2008, with over 1,000 Intel employee volunteer hours followed by an additional 500 hours in 2009. Intel Foundation matched the hours with a total of $15,000 to date. These funds are used to enhance valuable elementary and middle school after school programs which help keep our children involved in positive, safe and constructive activities.

Employees from Intel are always looking for new, innovate ways to get involved in their community. The Jones Farm Campus were the first official park adopters when they adopted Griffin Oaks and Glencoe Creek Parks in 2007. An Intel IT group consisting of employees from various Oregon campuses followed suit in 2009 and adopted Shadywood Park. These Intel groups organize regular volunteer projects in their adopted parks each year to help with ongoing park maintenance including washing play equipment, planting flowers and removing invasive plants.

Intel is home to thousands of amazing volunteer heroes! The City of Hillsboro Parks & Recreation Department is thankful for this great partnership through which Intel gives so much back to the Hillsboro community!
