Underwater EGGstravaganza

Walters Cultural Arts Center

Saturday, Feb. 23

4 pm - 9:30 pm

10 volunteers needed to help out with this magical event where dads and daughters are treated with a night of dinner and dancing. Volunteers will help set up event, manage photo booth, serve dinner, and help with clean up. Volunteers need to wear black and white.

Saturday, March 30

12:15 pm - 3:45 pm

5 volunteers needed to help with deck-watch during this underwater egg hunt, assist in the festive arts & craft room, check in patrons, and help the Easter Bunny. Volunteers do not need to go in the water to help out with this event.

4-5 volunteers are needed to help out with this comprehensive after school enrichment program. Volunteers dedicate time as classroom assistants to help elementary aged youth with homework time, sports, and other fun activities.

 

This is a great opportunity to complete high school/college job shadows, internships, and gain valuable work experience in a classroom setting.

 

A commitment of at least one day per week is needed and schedules can be made based on volunteer availability.

9 am - 1 pm

Help us plant 800 native trees and shrubs at Jackson Bottom, a 725-acre wildlife preserve home to many species of native wildlife and habitat. The City of Hillsboro will provide gloves, tools, and all necessary guidance. Please wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather - Rain or Shine.

Saturday, April 20

10 am - 1pm

50 volunteers needed to help plant 300 native trees and shrubs as part of SOLVE-IT and the opening of the Rock Creek Trail extension. Gloves, tools, and all necessary guidance provided. Please wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather—Rain or Shine. Volunteer Check in: Tool trailer located in the parking lot.

Global Youth Service Day is the largest service event in the world. This international campaign celebrates and mobilizes the millions of children and youth who improve their communities each day of the year through service.

12 pm - 2 pm (activity time)

Come volunteer at this youth led volunteer project.  Hillsboro's Youth Advisory Council & Team of Recreational Youth has partnered to lead this year’s Global Youth Services Day project. Volunteers will be asked to plant 300 native plants, remove invasive weeds and pick up litter along a stream corridor. Snacks and gloves provided. Fun for the whole family!

Outdoor recreation & fun, nature-based activities will follow the volunteer project.

Get OutdoorsGroup Shoveling

Looking for a group project outdoors? Parks & Recreation can accommodate all ages and group sizes with volunteer projects in any of our great parks. Help pick-up litter, plant trees, work on trails, rake leaves, or remove invasive plants from natural areas. We provide the tools, materials, and leadership for all projects!

Walters Cultural Arts Center


Looking to tap into your inner artist?  Volunteer to help out with classes at the Walters Cultural Arts Center!
Family Art Night

General Arts Center Opportunities:

Thursday Nights

6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

1-2 volunteers needed each night to assist instructor with set-up, clean up, distributing art supplies, and helping participants with paint, clay, sculpture and other types of hands-on art projects.

Volunteers are needed at the Glenn & Viola Cultural Arts Center to help out with a variety of programs and events.  Volunteers can:

  • Concerts
  • Classroom assistants
  • Gallery opening attendants
  • Spoken Word
  • Family art nights
  • Special events  

Hillsboro Community Senior Center

Serve a Senior Lunch

Donations Drivers Needed

Volunteers needed to help serve lunch, assist in kitchen, and help with clean-up after lunch is served. A once/week commitment is preferred, but we also welcome one-time volunteers. High school students can volunteer during spring break, no school days, and in the summer.

Serve Lunch: 11:45 am - 1 pm

Lunch Clean up: 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Thursday Driver and Substitute Driver

9:00 am- 11:00 am (shift time may vary)

1-2 volunteers needed to pick up food donations on Thursdays. A strong commitment is needed for this position. Must have a clean driving record and pass a DMV check.

We are also recruiting for on-call drivers to fill in as needed.

Bingo

 

Every Wednesday Night

Hillsboro Community Senior Center

4:30 pm - 9:30 pm

5 volunteers needed to help out with Bingo Night! There are different shifts and jobs available each night. BINGO night is a crucial fundraiser to the Center and volunteers are a huge help to keep things running. Small groups and individuals welcome!

Floor/Caller:

1st Shift: 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm

2nd Shift: 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

(Shift times can be flexible)

The floor/caller position helps out with any or all of the following duties:

  • sell cards
  • manage door prizes
  • read back BINGO numbers
  • keep player’s tables clean
  • call numbers

Volunteer Requirements

Volunteers need to be 15 years of age or older. Some positions may require an application, background check, and an interview process.
