Purpose
- Be a voice for all middle school students in the Hillsboro community;
- Serve as the communication link between Hillsboro Parks & Recreation
and Brown, Evergreen, Poynter, and Thomas middle schools;
- Create and help plan after school programs for "The Zone"
and design other middle school events during the school year;
- Tell us what kinds of activities you and your peers like to participate
in, where you like to hang out, and then help us plan something around
your ideas;
- Serve as the go-getter for involving other students in TRY programs and events.
Goals
- Create, organize, and run an event in the spring for all middle school
students;
- Brainstorm after school classes and help promote them;
- Plan activities for "The Zone" summer program.
Team Member Expectations
- Only 7th & 8th graders can be members;
- Serve a school-year term (November - May);
- Maintain a 2.0 GPA;
- Attend all meetings. A member who has two unexcused absences or fails
to attend three regularly scheduled meetings will be removed from the
team;
- Willing to commit 6 - 8 hours of time and energy a month (4 hours
in meetings and up to 4 hours for event planning);
- Come with a positive attitude and be ready to have fun!
Meeting Schedule
- Meetings will be held on Tuesdays from 6:30 - 8:30 pm;
- Meeting locations take place all over the City of Hillsboro in order for members
to become familiar with the City's facilities and parks.
