Civic Center The Civic Center, in the heart of downtown Hillsboro, houses city government. The north plaza with its welcoming fountain was designed to be a gathering place for the community. The Civic Center incorporates environmentally friendly construction and design and has been awarded a gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating.

Visit the new Venetian Theatre and Bistro, shop in the antique stores, or stop by the Sequoia Art Gallery. Our Main Street still has that old-fashioned feel. It is perfect for a leisurely stroll.

Arts The Walters Cultural Arts Center, located at 5th & Main, houses a theater space, five art studios, two galleries, classrooms and amenities for special events and community functions. Since opening in 2003, the Center has presented concerts, arts exhibitions, lectures, art classes and workshops, and has served as the anchor for Hillsboro’s blossoming arts community.
Main Library The Main Library on Brookwood Parkway has ample parking, quiet study areas overlooking a pond and walking park. The large reading area has comfortable chairs, fireplace and views of the park. The magical story time room was designed with children in mind. Shute Park Library The Shute Park Branch offers computer classes and Spanish language programs. It is conveniently located near the aquatic center, a family park, and public transportation. Both locations have public computers and WiFi.
Parks Our Parks & Recreation Department inspires and expands the minds and horizons of citizens of all ages by enabling access to recreation, nature, culture, and adventure. The department is proud to provide the community with more than 1500 acres of park land, an array of recreational facilities (including the Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center, Jackson Bottom Wetlands and the Walters Cultural Arts Center), and a multitude of recreational, educational and cultural programs.
Wetlands Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve is a 725-acre wildlife preserve located within the city limits of Hillsboro, Oregon. The Preserve is a tranquil sanctuary for both people and animals. The quiet open waters, rolling meadows and upland ash and fir woods are home to thousands of ducks and geese, deer, otters, beavers, herons.
