Mediation Program

ABOUT:

HPD Mediation Logo

Mediation is a confidential, voluntary process through which the parties in dispute resolve their own conflicts with the assistance of an impartial third party, the mediator.

Our program is a cost-effective alternative to resolving disputes between parties and is geared towards helping individuals communicate with each other and jointly resolve issues to avoid conflict escalation.

Mediation is free, voluntary and confidential. Sessions typically last 1-2 hours on a day and time agreed upon by the parties. Mediations are typically held at the West Precinct Police Department at 250 SE 10th Avenue Hillsboro, OR  97123, or at a mutually agreed upon location.

MEDIATION PROCESS:

Our aim is to bring parties to the table to:

  • Listen to one another
  • Communicate their needs
  • Increase understanding

Our goal is for parties to reach a mutually agreeable written agreement which is:

  • Not legally binding
  • Kept and maintained in good faith
