The Planning Department’s Current Planning division administers the Hillsboro Zoning Ordinance which implements the community vision as articulated in the City Comprehensive Plan. The Current Planning division accomplishes this through the management and processing of land use applications submitted for new development in the City. Current Planning staff work closely with local developers and home owners to ensure that new development complies with the regulations of the Hillsboro Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Ordinance. Land use applications can be processed by administrative review or by public hearing before the Planning Commission or the Planning and Zoning Hearings Board. Current Planners work as a liaison between applicants and the reviewing bodies. They staff the public hearing meetings and are available to assist the applicants through this review process.
