Hillsboro Community Gardens |

|
|
Hillsboro Parks & Recreation supports three community garden sites in partnership with Calvary Lutheran, Sonrise and Orenco Presbyterian Churches. Community gardens provide an opportunity for residents to grow food and ornamental crops, and enjoy the exercise, relaxation and educational benefits of gardening. Gardens promote sustainability and community building. All of our gardens are pesticide free. |

Donating Produce |
| Many gardeners donate extra produce to local shelters, families in need, or the Oregon Food Bank. Gardeners are encouraged to work together to limit waste.
Each year, a garden volunteer takes the lead on organizing donations with other gardeners. If you are interested in helping out, contact the garden manager at your garden site. |
Committees and Work Parties |
|
Gardeners have the option to set up specialized committees to benefit the gardens and the gardeners. Committees can do lots of fun things, such as organize demonstrations about organic gardening techniques, pruning tomato plants, or planning for winter crops.
Groups can also set up work party events to help clean up the pathways and other community areas. Volunteers can help update the bulletin board postings and keep the tool sheds tidy.
Contact the garden manager at your garden site to get started! |
