Can I speak at a City Council meeting?

Public participation is encouraged. If you’re interested in testifying during a public hearing, you would sign the sheet on the table in the back of the room. If there are a lot of people that want to testify, the Mayor will take the signup sheet and call individuals up one by one. If there aren’t a lot of people that want to testify, you can come forward when the Mayor opens the public hearing. When addressing the Council, please use the witness table (center front of the room).  All testimony is electronically recorded. You are not required to give your address when speaking to the City Council, only your name. If you are speaking on an item not on the regular agenda, please fill out the card on the table in the back of the room and give it to the City Recorder up at the dais.  When the “Communications and Non-Agenda Items” portion of the agenda is reached, you can come forward and speak then.
