Where is the Hillsboro Police Department located? 
A: Hillsboro Police Department Main Station is located at 250 SE 10th. Ave. Hillsboro, Oregon 97123. The Main Station is located at the corner of 10th and Baseline; off the MAX light rail line.
 
How do I commend an officer or report concerns regarding officer conduct?

A: The Hillsboro Police Department is always interested in how our officers do their job.  You can commend or report concerns regarding officer conduct by telephone, letter, e-mail or in person.  If you wish personal contact, call the Department at 503-681-6190 and ask to speak with a supervisor.  Our main location and mailing address is 250 SE 10th Avenue, Hillsboro, OR  97123.  Or Email Us .

NON-EMERGENCY REPORTING:
 
Who do I call to report a non-emergency crime or to speak with an officer?

A: All non-emergency calls for service in the Washington County area should be made to the Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency (WCCCA) at 503-629-0111. If you wish to leave a message for a specific Hillsboro Police Department officer, you may contact the Records Division at 503-681-6175 and they will transfer you to the officer's voice mail.

 
I want to apply for a Restraining Order - can I do this at the Hillsboro Police Department?
A: No, you must contact the Center for Victim Services at 503-846-3830.
 
Someone stole my property and my insurance company is requesting a police report - do i need to have an officer take a report or can I just come into the Police department?
A: If the incident occurred within the City of Hillsboro, the value of the property is under $1,000 and you have no suspect information, you may come to the Hillsboro Police Department and fill out a Community Crime Report. We will give you a case number and a copy of the report for your records.

What if I have a question about the status of my case?

A: Cases involving criminal acts which appear to have some basis of solvability are referred to the Detectives Division for further investigation. To inquire about your case, call the Hillsboro Police Department Detectives Division at 503-681-6185. If you know the detective assigned to your case, you may call him or her directly.

 
If I have property that had been stolen and was recovered, who do I contact to obtain my property?

A: You need to contact the Property and Evidence Division at 503-681-6182 or 503-681-6453.

 
I would like an officer to stand by while I get some of my property. How can I do this?

A: Typically, you would need to obtain a writ of assistance from the Washington County Sheriff's Office. For more information regarding this process, please call WCSO's Civil Unit at 503-846-2537.

If you have been served a restraining order and have not received the allotted amount of time to obtain your personal belongings, contact non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-0111 to request police officer assistance.

TRAFFIC LAWS & VEHICLE / BIKE ISSUES:
 
Where do I go to pay my traffic citation?

A: Traffic citations are processed through the City of Hillsboro Municipal Court which is currently located in the Civic Center at 150 E Main Street, Hillsboro, OR. 97123. Additional questions regarding traffic citations or the Municipal Court process may be answered by calling Municipal Court at 503-681-6157. You may also call 503-681-6180 to hear recorded information concerning Municipal Court issues.

 
What is the law regarding reporting a vehicle accident in Oregon?

A: 811.720 When accident must be reported: You must report your accident if it happened on a highway or premise open to the public, and resulted in any of the following:

1) More than $1,500 in damage to your vehicle;
2) More than $1,500 in damage to any one person’s property;
3) A vehicle towed from the scene as a result of the damage;
4) Injury to any person (no matter how minor the injury); or,
5) the death of any person:

 

(a) The reporting requirements for drivers under ORS 811.725.
(b) The reporting requirements for occupants of vehicles in accidents under ORS 811.735.
(c) The reporting requirements for owners of vehicles under ORS 811.730.

 

 
My house is on a street with 2 hour parking zones - can I get a permit that exempts me from the 2 hour time limit?

A: Yes, as long as the vehicle registration matches the address for which you are requesting the permit. You will need to come to the Hillsboro Police Department and provide your vehicle registration and driver's license or picture identification. The permit expires two years from the date of issue.

What are the laws regarding the use of helmets?

Who do I call for current road conditions? When do I need to remove my studded tires?
A: For information on studded tires, chain requirements and current road conditions, call 5-1-1 or visit the Traction Tires Section of the TripCheck website.
 
What are the child safety seat laws?

How long can I park my car on the street?
A: Unless a restriction is posted, an operable vehicle with current tags may park on a city street if driven at least every 72 hours
 
Can I park my recreational vehicle, trailer or boat on a city street?
A: A recreational vehicle, pickup with a camper, towable trailer or boat cannot be parked longer than twenty-four hours on a public street
 
Am I allowed to do vehicle repairs on my vehicle in the street or on my private property?
A: Repairs on a public street are not allowed but emergency services such as towing, jump starting or changing a flat tire is OK. Vehicles repaired at a private residence must be owned by the resident of the property

How many dogs or cats can I have in the City of Hillsboro?
A: You may keep no more than three (3) adult dogs or three (3) adult cats within the City.
 
Are chickens allowed in the City of Hillsboro?
A: A limited amount of chickens (hens only) may be kept in the City with a valid permit
 
Is there a Code that addresses barking dogs?
A: Yes. A dog barking either continuously for a minimum of ten (10) minutes or intermittently for thirty (30) minutes or more may be subject to enforcement action
 
Who do I contact to report a barking nuisance in my neighborhood?
A: If the dog is still barking you can make a complaint by calling non-emergency Police Dispatch at (503) 629-0111. For chronic barking, not going on now, please leave a message on the Code Enforcement Complaint Line at (503) 615-6645
 
How bad must my neighbor’s tall grass and weeds get before it is in violation?
A: No owner or person in charge of any lot or parcel of land within the city shall allow grass, weeds or noxious growth in excess of twelve (12) inches in height.
 
As a resident or tenant am I required to have garbage service in the City of Hillsboro?
A: No, however, household garbage must be stored in receptacles in such a manner to prevent the contents from overflowing, contain odors, and prevent access by animals.

How do I find out if someone is in jail?

A: You will need to call the Washington County Jail at 503-846-6826.

   
I would like to have an officer stand-by while I get some of my property. How can I do this?

A: Police Officers will not assist on a civil stand-by unless you have a writ of assistance. To obtain a writ of assistance, call 503-684-3763 or 1-800-452-7636.

 
I need to get my fingerprints taken. Will the police department do this?

A: No, you will need to contact the Washington County Sheriff's office at 503-846-2524.

 
I am interested in doing a ride a long with the Hillsboro Police Department - is this possible?
A: Yes, you will need to come to the Hillsboro Police Department and request to fill out a ride-along application. If your application is approved, we will contact you to set up a date to ride. Contact Trudi Coggins at 503-681-6641 with any questions about the ride-along process.

What is the curfew law in the City of Hillsboro?

A:

  • Under 14 and not in high school:
    • September-May 9:15pm-6:00am all week
    • June-August 10:15pm-6:00am all week
  • 14-17 and in high school:
    • September-May 10:15pm-6:00am Sunday-Thursday; 12:00am-6:00am Friday & Saturday (exception is the day prior to a legal holiday where no school is scheduled for the legal holiday)
    • June-August 12:00am-6:00am all week
