Welcome!

Welcome to Washington County, Oregon! The City of Hillsboro Parks & Recreation, Tualatin Hills Parks & Recreation District and the Washington County Visitors Association are partners in hosting the 2012 ASA Girls 14A Western National Championship Tournament, and we are delighted to show you the best of our region. We know you will enjoy our superior playing fields and service, and we hope you will take the time to explore our wonderful parks, leisure areas and conveniences. Our residents love the ease of being 30 minutes by car from downtown Portland, 60 minutes to the Oregon Coast, and a short drive to recreational fun such as golf courses, wineries, boating, fishing, and the scenic countryside, and we want to share all this with you.

Opening Ceremonies  

Ann SchatzWe are pleased to have Ann Schatz as our keynote speaker for our opening ceremonies on Monday, July 30th. Ann is widely known and regarded as an accomplished sports broadcaster, speaker and entrepreneur. With a sports broadcasting career spanning two decades, Ann's imprint on rational broadcasting is impressive. Ann has provided live coverage for top competition and venues across the globe including the NBA Championships, the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, the Boston Marathon, NCAA Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments and the US Women's Open Golf Championship.

Throughout her broadcasting career Ann has had access to the world's top athletes, coaches and sport companies; including Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Mia Hamm, Nike and Adidas. Weaving her personal experiences with this elite group of individuals along with real life techniques and tools, Ann inspires her audiences to challenge the status quo and develop a plan to achieve breakthrough personal and professional results.

Ann attended Creighton University where she received her B.A. in Journalism/Mass Communications. She graduated cum laude in 1979.

  • WNBA Emmy Award 2002
  • 1994 Winter Olympics in Norway, Ann 'broke' the Tonya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan skating scandal story; gathered exclusive interviews w/Harding in Lillehammer
  • 1st female sportscaster in Omaha, Nebraska and Portland, Oregon
  • Sports Anchor for KOIN TV-Portland, OR
  • Omaha Girl Scout 'Woman of the Year' (athletics)
 

 

Lisa KosglowAlso at our opening ceremonies will be Lisa Kosglow who was a member  of the first Olympic snowboard team in 1998 and 2002. Lisa is a two-time Silver medalist at the World Championships and multiple National Champion. Although she is retired from competing, she is actively involved in athlete advocacy and promoting the Olympic movement to a new generation of kids. Lisa lives in Hood River and guides Kids Adventure Camps in the Columbia Gorge. On snowy days you can find her riding powder at Mt. Hood Meadows.
   
       
Facility Information      

The City of Hillsboro's Gordon Faber Recreation Complex is a 90-acre premier outdoor sports complex featuring seven natural grass lighted softball fields, a 7,000 seat stadium, and restroom and concessions facilities.

Tualatin Hills Parks & Recreation District's 32-acre multipurpose Portland Community College Rock Creek Facility features four lighted, sand-based softball fields and two natural turf, practice fields with restroom and concession facilities centrally located.
