Term expires: January 2013
Ward 3, Position B

Councilor Mike Castillo first served on the City Council from 2003-2006 but had to resign because he moved out of his ward. In November 2008, he was elected to the vacant council position in Ward 3, Position B and began serving his first term in January 2009. Mike wants to strengthen and diversify Hillsboro's employment base, insist on a balanced and sustainable approach to growth, ensure a strong police and fire department and fight hard to ensure that tax dollars are put to good use.

Though not a native Oregonian, Mike fell in love with the Pacific Northwest at a young age because his family visited the Northwest often. After graduating from college, he held out for an offer from Intel that would allow him to move to Hillsboro, which he did in 1996. Mike is currently a manager for the Intel Consumer Electronics Group.

In addition to his prior service as a City Councilor, he has served as the citizen representative on the Hillsboro Transportation Committee since 2003. He has also been active in the community through the Boy Scouts program. He is an Eagle Scout and has served as Scout Master.

Mike earned a bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University and a master's degree in Business Administration from Babson College.
